            Joshua Ch. 13.

Theme: Much land to be possessed

Time Running Out! 13:1.

¶ "Stricken in years" was the word of the Lord to Joshua. Time was running out for Joshua and The lord had still much more for Joshua to comprehend of the Lord's Bounty and possess it! Paul spoke about redeeming the time for the days are evil. [Eph. 5:16.] To the Corinthian believers "The time is short" [1 Corinthians 7:29.] The Lord give us the passion of Paul to seek to possess more of The Prize of our High Calling in Christ Jesus. [Philippians 3:14.]

Sorted Out in Time 13:1.

¶ It is a wonderful thing that the Lord uses time to get us sorted out! It is obvious that Joshua was upwards of 97 years of age. (Died 110. ref. 24:29.) We are "slow of heart to learn" but we should not dally in the valley of meaninglessness. We should always be aware that the Lord has said "Now is the accepted time". The Lord is never finished with us, there is always more of His grace and Glory to enter into. See Philippians 1:6. Ps. 84:11. There is a time for every purpose under Heaven.             "To be Born" To Die" etc. [Ecclesiastes 3:1.]

Very Much land to be Possessed 13:1.

¶ The children of Israel inherited the land only by the power of God and likewise we also can only come into God's best by his power alone; any self achievement will only be a meagre resemblance of His bounty and purpose. Press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. [Philippians 3:14.] The "mark" is "Resurrection life" the prize is the "high" and eternal purpose and "calling" of God, jam packed with Rich blessing that cannot be measured!

Divide By Lot. 13:6

¶ Each tribe has their particular inheritance and also in Christ dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily and that means every member of the body of Christ is unique and cannot be done without.

Expel the Spiritual Drag. 13:13.

¶ As Paul said, "Lay aside every weight". The Lord help us not to be weighed down (to Earth) with the entanglements of this life or dragged down by sin and all the woefulness of our self life. As we come to the Lord as beggers on a "dunghill" Jesus lifts us up to inherit the "Throne of Glory"! [1 Samuel 2:8.] What a great reason to expell all that would hinder us from true abiding fellowship with the Lord. [Hebrews 12:1. 2Timothy 2:4.]

Giving All to Jesus is a Feast. 13:14.

¶ What was offered to the Lord by Israel was to be the inheritance of Levi and what a feast of good things because the offerings of the Lord were to be only of "the best" of the herd. "Christ our Passover is sacrificed for us, therefore let us keep the feast" [1Cor. 5:7-8.] Every Believer a Priests!

Mount of The Valley. 13:19.

¶ There can always be found higher ground when enduring a"low" valley deal. Take to the high ground that "all things work together for good to them that love the Lord" [Romans 8:28.] Goodness and mercy is following. [Ps. 23:6.]

Baalam - Soothsayer!! 13:22.

¶ What an extraordinary sad state of a man. Vines definition:- "To Divine" How chilling is the reality of people that can Postulate divine truth and yet in real life do not know anything about the preciousness of Christ but for gain and advantage "soothsay" their knowledge of divine order of things. [Jude 1:16.] Such carelessness in Baalam was so Potent that it frightened the donkey to talking (by God's compassion on the donkey) and "forbade the madness of the prophet" [2 Peter 2:16.]  Christ centered spirituality moves away from madness.[Hosea 9:7. Mark 5:15.]

The lord our Inheritance. 13:33

¶ What a great inheritance! The inheritance of the tribe of Levi was the Lord himself; Moses, Aaron and Miriam are the children of Amram who was the son of Kohath who was the son of Levi: Therefore Moses was a Levite and what a place he has in the Heavenly hall of fame along with Aaron and Miriam. Every believer in Jesus Christ is part of a greater Priesthood than that of Levi;  An  Eternal Living Stone in the House of God!          Refer: 1 Peter 2:5. How great is the Love of God to us that we should be the inheritors of all that God is! Re Aaron and Miriam see Micah 6:4.3.

Jesus is Reaching for You.God Bless.

¶ Bible verses.

Balaam also . . . they slew with the sword -- This unprincipled man, on his dismissal from Balak, set out for his home in Mesopotamia (Nu 24:25). But, either diverging from his way to tamper with the Midianites, he remained among them without proceeding farther, to incite them against Israel and to watch the effects of his wicked counsel; or, learning in his own country that the Israelites had fallen into the snare which he had laid and which he doubted not would lead to their ruin, he had, under the impulse of insatiable greed, returned to demand his reward from the Midianites. He was an object of merited vengeance. In the immense slaughter of the Midianitish people -- in the capture of their women, children, and property and in the destruction of all their places of refuge -- the severity of a righteous God fell heavily on that base and corrupt race. But, more than all others, Balaam deserved and got the just reward of his deeds. His conduct had been atrociously sinful, considering the knowledge he possessed, and the revelations he had received, of the will of God. For any one in his circumstances to attempt defeating the prophecies he had himself been the organ of uttering, and plotting to deprive the chosen people of the divine favor and protection, was an act of desperate wickedness, which no language can adequately characterize.
