Yes, it is good to believe in God, and all that, but here in this promise of ETERNAL LIFE, it is only available by Believing on Jesus! You might ask what does this "believing on Jesus" mean?
It is good to evaluate, who is offering what, and on what basis, this offer has credibility.
Who is making the offer?
God is making the offer.
The Credibility:
"The fool hath said in his heart, there is no God" [Psalm 14:1.] Many people say it with their mouth, because they are doing "a runner" but when it is said in and from the heart, God brands such rationalisation as foolishness. Where can you find greater foolishness than to say, "Do you see that gibbering monkey in that tree, well, that is a distant removed cousin!" There are many dark deceptions, keeping the truth of God from man since the devil anesthetised the human race at the beginning of time, and the theory of evolution is one of the greatest!
What is on offer:
The Gift of Eternal Life.
Credibility:
The body certainly dies but the soul (spirit, personality, emotions, etc.) go on. Even people who on the surface, care not much about spiritual and eternal things, will make comments at funeral services like, "I know dad is up there having a great time" or "We lost mum 5 years ago but we know she is watching over us". Such comments show that there is a recognition that the body and the person (or soul) are two different things and that at physical death the "real person" has "Vacated" the body and is relocated somewhere else; the problem is, that "The soul" sourced it's life from the realm of it's dying body for a measley 70 years, plus or minus, and in that state of death continues unless it receives life from The One who has the power to give it, and of course there is only one who has such power and that is Jesus Christ, who conquered the grave, and is Risen and is "alive for evermore and has the keys of hell and death" [Revelation 1:18.] "The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is Eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" [Romans 6:23.] which brings up the final point ...
The basis of this offer:
"Believeth in Him" (That is, Jesus christ.)
Credibility:
Peter said to Jesus, "Lord to whom shall we go, you have the words of eternal Life" [John 6:68.] There has never been anyone else other than Jesus Christ that has offered to give the gift of eternal life, and there has never been anyone else other than Jesus Christ who has given himself to die for the sins of the world and "taste death for every man" [Hebrews 2:9.]
On the basis of those two incredible realities, and I say incredible realities because, our calendar bears indisputable evidence of the birth of Christ and His gigantic impact on the whole world. See article "The wonder of what Jesus has done" or "The Stamp of Jesus upon the world".
Jesus gave the promise of "Eternal Life" [John 10:28.] and then took the sinners place, being "wounded for our transgressions" [Isaiah 53:5.] but rose again securing the Power, Life and Victory over the Grave for every sinner that comes to Him.
It is an historic fact that Jesus died upon the cross of Calvary, and three times Pilate clearly stated "I find no fault in Him" [John 18:38. 19:4 & 6.]
Jesus Christ is the only one that has died for the sins of the world. [1 John 2:2.] He took our judgement for all our "faults", and for every sinner that comes to Him, Jesus is The Highest Advocate "with The Father, Jesus Christ THE RIGHTEOUS" [1 John 2:1.] bringing an indisputable case for our pardon before The Throne, securing for us, free justification, Jesus declaring in His advocacy, "I have taken this one's death that he might share my Life, My love for him is eternal and I have paid in Full for his eternal redemption, and stand for his eligibility for abundant Grace, and that he might receive the gift of righteousness and reign in Life by my Life, for I will ever live to make intercession that he may be with me where I am, sharing my life to the full extent".
There is no other credible answer to the anomaly of mans sin and death.
"For Christ hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, THAT HE MIGHT BRING US TO GOD, being put to death in the flesh, BUT QUICKENED BY THE SPIRIT" [1 Peter3:18.] "For He (God) hath made Him (Jesus) to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him." [2 Corinthians 5:21.]
If you don't know Jesus Christ as your own personal Saviour, then come to Him today and welcome Him into your life, and you will know an ever growing experience of the following promise found in the word of God.
1 Peter 1:7-8.
Verse 7 is added to give the context of this great joy of knowing the Lord that Peter is talking about, in his letter to Christians scattered throughout Asia.
(7.) "That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:
(8.) Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see Him not, yet believing, ye REJOICE with JOY UNSPEAKABLE and FULL of GLORY."
If you do know The Lord and are lacking this joy spoken of in verse 8, then somehow you are weighed down with legalism and serving The Lord out of a sense of "duty" and "sacrifice" to acquire spiritual "status". David declares,
"Sacrifice and offering Thou didst not desire, mine ear hast Thou opened." [Psalm 40:6.] What a thrill to hear The Voice of The Lord! What peace and joy fills our heart to hear Him speak to us, and He speaks words of LIFE [John 6:68.] Isaiah affirms such a blessing ... "The lord shall cause His GLORIOUS VOICE TO BE HEARD" [Isaiah 30:30.]
The Lord bless and comfort you that, He will show you the path of Life, and as the verse goes on to say, "In Thy presence is fullness of joy at Thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore" Psalm 16:11.]
Jesus Loves you.

God Bless.
