"The Lord God is my strength, and He will make my feet like hinds feet, and He will make me to walk upon my high places" [Habakkuk 3:19.]
It is told about Hudson Taylor, how that during a time of severe opposition against his ministry of the Gospel in China, that he frequently escaped determined violence only by minutes, with the persecutors arriving at a location just after he left.
There is more to this precious promise than being delivered from physical danger; The ability of hinds to leap with great precision and strength from one rocky craig to another is truly an experience of salvation for them and illustrates a powerful truth of The Lord's saving power, working in us.
As this verse promises, it is The lord who can give us strength, to walk on High ground "in The Spirit" and the result is "and ye shall not fulfill the lusts of the flesh" [Galatians 5:16.] but Oh what a leap is required to rise above such low level tides of self, sin and the flesh that can turn into tsunamis to swamp us.
Notice the wonderful encouragement that Habakkuk is praying; he is declaring that the Lord will MAKE our feet LIKE hinds feet; It is only by His power alone that we can be brought to the heights of spiritual Victory; we haven't "got what it takes" only Jesus has "Got what it takes" and He IS making your feet, (as you look to Him) LIKE hinds feet and WILL MAKE you to walk upon the (spiritual) high places of goodness, Life and Blessing that He has for you, and which can only be found in Christ; It is The Lord who reveals these high places to us, that He has, just for us; and that's why Habakkuk says... "My high places" but we can only get there by His strength.
There is a lovely promise in Isaiah... "He giveth power to the faint, and to them that have no might, He increaseth Strength" [Isaiah 40:29.] We just say to The Lord continually, "I am weak and faint and have NO might, Lord, please be my strength" and we will experience Him MAKING our feet LIKE hinds feet.
The Lord encourage you that he is doing just that for you and you shall greatly rejoice in the days to come.
Jesus loves you.
God Bless
