Home How Precious!

T. Austin Sparks - Messages.

Indeed Peter is one who discovered the exceeding preciousness of Christ, and also as he said in another place,  "Tasted of The Lord that he is Gracious" [1 Peter 2:3.]

How precious is This Christ!  "The Redemption of the soul is precious." [Psalm 49:8.] And that preciousness of redemption, matches up with Him, because, "Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is everyone that hangeth on a tree, that the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of The Spirit through Faith" [Galatians 3:13-14.]

Jesus is not only precious because of WHAT He has DONE but also because of WHO HE IS!

 "Who is the King of glory? The Lord strong and mighty" [Psalm 24:8.]

What amazing Love, What Amazing Grace! David says in the previous Psalm,  "The Lord is my Shepherd" and in the next Psalm says, "The Earth is The Lord's and the fullness thereof", and then makes the next declaration, who this king is; "The Lord strong and Mighty the Lord mighty in battle". [Psalm 24:8.] We have heard of "mighty mouse" but who is this "Lord" that is mighty and possesses Heaven and Earth, and is also THE SHEPHERD of psalm 24?

                                 Jesus alone!

None other than Jesus Christ, the good shepherd, that gave his life and conquered the grave with mighty power, to offer redemption from destruction for all the lost sheep of this world's humanity. Jesus alone is this one that has fought the most horrendous battle for the whole human race: He is the only one to whom all scripture points in answer to King David's question - "Who is this King of Glory? and then he prophetically gives the answer - "The Lord strong and mighty, the Lord mighty in Battle" [Psalm 24:8.] The meaning of the Hebrew word "Lord" here is "Jehovah". But who is this Jehovah that fought for Israel and has fought for the whole of Adam's race, lost in sin and eternal death! Why of course there is none other than Jesus Christ. Paul said, "Neither is there salvation in any other for there is none other name (Jesus Christ) under Heaven given among men whereby we must be saved". [Acts 4:12.] The meaning of the name "Joshua" and "Jesus" is "Jehovah Saved". Who was that mighty Captain that stood by Joshua with a sword drawn in his hand and said to Joshua - "take the shoes off your feet for the place whereon you stand is holy ground" [Joshua 5:14.] and who is this "Rock" that followed Israel through the great and mighty wilderness as their solid defence and shelter through ever storm and battle - None other than Jesus Christ [1 Corinthians 10:4.] - "The Lord strong and mighty the Lord mighty in Battle".

What love - What grace has The Lord Jesus Christ demonstrated through his death upon the cross for the redemption of man from the judgement and condemnation of his sin and what mighty triumph over the grave for the redemption of mans life from eternal death to ETERNAL LIFE! Your eternal destiny in Christ if you come to him is from woe to joy, from shame to glory, and from death to "immortality and eternal life"! [2 Timothy 1:10.]

Such  belongs to every Christian with the same great joy that the following songwriter expresses:

I'd Rather Have Jesus - The Lyrics
I'd rather have Jesus than silver or gold;
I'd rather be His than have riches untold;
I'd rather have Jesus than houses or lands,
I'd rather be led by His nail pierced hand.

Than to be a king of a vast domain
Or be held in sin's dread sway,
I'd rather have Jesus than anything
This world affords today.

I'd rather have Jesus than men's applause;
I'd rather be faithful to His dear cause;
I'd rather have Jesus than world-wide fame,
I'd rather be true to His holy name.

He's fairer than lilies of rarest bloom;
He's sweeter than honey from out of the comb;
He's all that my hungering spirit needs,
I'd rather have Jesus and let Him lead.

 The Lord thrill and encourage you with the fact of how Great is His Preciousness, that Peter speaks of and you have found, and also how Precious you are to Him, to pay so dearly for your Redemption!

Jesus loves You.

God Bless.
