How did you begin this short earthly existence that your now living?
You were....
Thats correct, you were into the family that you are now a part of, and so it is, that to become part of the family of God, Jesus said to Nicodemus "Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be.....
[John 3:7.]
The Reason why
Adam and Eve made the choice to go against God and so lost the Life that God gave them bringing upon themselves eternal death, which would not begin in it's entirety till their bodies died and thus began the whole human race, on a short journey to be totally enveloped by the grave!
When Adam and Eve sinned and went against God, supposing that they could become a God or "as God" according to Satan's lie that he spun to them, then at that moment their fellowship was broken with God and they died spiritually which is what God warned them would happen if they decided against Him and partook of "the tree of the knowledge of good and evil"; God warned that "IN THE DAY that thou eatest thereof THOU SHALT SURLEY DIE" [Genesis 2:17.] Now Adam and eve didn't die physically on that day but a long time after just like with us all today, but they died spiritually and that is the reason why...
said "Ye must be born again" because we are dead spiritually until we come to Jesus, receive Him as our saviour for forgiveness of sin, and it is then that we automatically receive The Holy Spirit of God and are born again spiritually and thus being "Born of God" we at that moment become a child of God for all eternity, belonging to Him and Him being our Loving Heavenly father!
The Wonderful Promise of Eternal Life Explained.
We read in 1 John 5:11-13; the following:-

The Word of God is a great blessing in making this matter of mans need and the Love of God and the gift of Salvation and Eternal Life clear and full of assurance, so that there is no doubt as to the truth and the reality that this Gospel of Christ is indeed the "Glad Tidings of Great things"
Everyone has a major problem, which no one can deny , and that is "Death" and The Bible says that death is the result of sin as in the following verse; "The wages of sin is death but the gift of God is Eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" [Romans 6:23.]
This delema of the state of man and the world he lives in, being like a revolving door of life and death and also a sence of lostness and distance between him and God is pictured below....
If you have been able to follow things thus far, maybe you might like to tackle a few questions and look up a few Bible references yourself.
The following is the Bible reference if you havn't got a Bible or you would prefer just to keep following the presentation, the reference is Isaiah 59:2; which says.... "But your iniquities have seperated between you and your God, and your sins have hid His face from you, that He will not hear"
Question. What are the three results of our sin found in Isaiah 59:2.? ..........................
....................................................................................................................................................
The Bible encourages us to be clear about the sin question and reminds us that "If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us" and also "If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar and His word is not in us" and so the above shows that because of sin man is left with death and separated from God forever. Did you find in the above verse, that the three things are:-
-
Seperated. 2. God has hid His face from us. 3. And will not hear us.
There are many ways in which man can try and bridge the "separation gap" between God and himself such as in the illustration below:-

Check out how God's word declares that we cannot save ourselves from the curse of sin; in the following verses, how many points can you find about the fact that we cannot reach God's standard by our own human efforts but that we need someone as The Bible says who is "separate from sinners and made higher than the heavens" to make it all right (or be our righteousness) for us! You will need a Bible if you want to read the text yourself or just follow the theme of the content of the Scriptures. Ephesians 2:8-10. Titus 3:5-6. 2 Corinthians 5:21. 1 Corinthians 1:30. Isaiah 57:12.]

It is not only that our "sins" need to be forgiven but also the greater need is that we have a corrupt and sinful nature and apart from needing someone worthy to take our judgement for sin we also need a new nature or to put it in other words we need to be "Born Again"!
Concerning the above Questions you should have come up with the following truths from The Bible:-
-
We cannot save ourselves
-
Salvation is not by our own works and it must be deduced then that it is by the work of another.
-
Salvation is "The gift of God"; that means Your forgiveness and mine and reconciliation and the gift of Eternal Life is Free - Free - Free!
-
Salvation is not of works lest any man should boast!
-
We are saved by Grace and as the wonderful old Hymn goes - "Amazing Grace how sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me"
-
By God's Mercy we are saved and are regenerated IE, "Born Again"
-
Our own righteousness does not profit us in the sight of Heaven but as the "Prodical Son said to his father, "I have sinned against heaven and in thy sight and am no more worthy to be called thy son, make me one of thy hired servants" but wonderfully The Father who in His great Love fell on His son's neck, we are told and kissed him and said "let us eat drink and be merry for this my son was lost and is found, was dead but is alive again".
Having considered these last 2 realities that all of humanity abides in death because of sin and that by our own good works we cannot clear our guilt, atone for our sin, reach heavens standard or overcome the grave, lets look now at a wonderful provision made for us by the love of God as we are told by Jesus in John 3:16. "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have Everlasting Life"
Here then in this illustration below is the wonderful answer of everyone's need of a Saviour:-
When we come to Jesus The Bible says that we have "Passed from DEATH unto LIFE" [John5:24.] just as indicated in the picture above of the person "cross"ing over the seperation to the side of Eternal Life, and Fellowship with God.
What are some truths that are contained in the above illustration and can be found in the Bible in 1 Peter 3:18?
......................................................................................................................................................
......................................................................................................................................................
Did you get the following truths:- 1. We are the "unjust" and Christ is the "Just" one even as Pilate said "I find in Him no fault at all" [John 18:38.] 2. There is only a need for sin to be paid for once and Christ has done it for you! 3. He has suffered for your sins. 4. He was put to death for our sins but Rose Again from the dead having VICTORY OVER THE GRAVE! 5. And with all of that which He has done for you and me, He has BROUGHT US TO GOD! Praise The Lord, what a wonderful Saviour and Friend!
Having considered all of the above and what you have read in the scroll above of the Record that God has made in His word, that He offers you the gift of Eternal Life, - Have you come to Jesus, and if not, do you now know that He loves you and has paid for your sin and tasted death for you and risen again and is "alive for Evermore" for you?
If you are ready to thank Him and receive Jesus now, just talk to Him and say a simple prayer like......
