The End of the World and The "Blessed Hope". Print E-mail
Gospel - The World
Written by Grant Hayman

Part 1 of 2 Peter chapter 3 closed with verse 9 ...

...... "The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance" [2 Peter 3:9].

The following are a few more thoughts, beginning from verse 10 to the end of the chapter.

"The Day Of The Lord"

3:10 "But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise,

and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up".

Peter at this point in his letter, jumps way ahead (as Daniel did in his prophecy - Daniel 9:24 ) to the very end and consumation of all

things and the creation of  - "And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and

there was no more sea [Revelation 21:1].

Peter, eager to get us in the thrill of our destiny, gathers up the glad tidings,

that one day "the wicked will cease their troubling" (Job 3:17) and the new eternal ages of perfection and glory will begin.

THE DIVINE HEAVENLY THIEF OF LOVE:

"Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame" [Revelation 16:15]].

Peter declares in chapter 3 and verse 10 .. "The day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night".

3D Cloud Background Image - Free Download for Web & Design ... The Church being "caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air" (1 Thessalonians 4:17) is the work of the thief of love!

A thief always comes to steal. A thief never comes in the dead of night to leave a gift, he comes to take something away.

Peter mentions the coming of the Lord as ... "the day of the Lord"; just 2 verses back (3:8), Peter mentions that - "One day is with the Lord as a thousand years and a thousand years as one day". Indeed, such a formula fits the appearance of the Lord at the battle of Armageddon, destroying the enemies of Israel and initiating His 1000 year, (1 day) millennial reign on the renewed old Earth!  I.E., "the day of the Lord".

Such a staging of the greatness and glory of Christ being established on Earth, certainly fits the description of "The day of the Lord"! His sudden appearance (at the end of the "great tribulation") and setting up His Kingdom on Earth has the surprise component of a thief, but lacks the element of 'theft'. The real character of a thief, is to steal something, not set up his billiard table for a thousand years! but to take something away! (2 Thessalonians 2:7) i.e., The rapture!

A successful thief never seeks to accomplishes his deed by a violent encounter. The coming of the Lord at the battle of Armageddon  is a very violent end of destruction to Israel's and the Lord's enemies; Not the secret deed of a thief!

The Ascension of Jesus - Biblical Scene with Disciples and Earthly ... When does the divine thief of love do his deed of 'theft' and 'taking away'? Of course it is as he said ... "I will come again and receive you unto myself (in the clouds, 1 Thessalonians 4:17), that where I am there ye may be also" [John 14:3].

The "Caught up" happens; first to glory to be with Him, 'triggering' the 7 years tribulation, and then return with him at the end of the tribulation for "all things to be put under his feet" for the duration of His millennial reign and beyond. [1 Corinthians 15:27].

Brief Breakdown Of Daniel's ProphecOf Events.

Daniel Chapter 9:24-27.

Free Revelation Cliparts, Download Free Revelation Cliparts png ... 24. "Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.

clip art november calendar #5978250 | Clipart Library The "seventy weeks" are seventy weeks of years, and

Daniel at this point, (like Peter) gives a summary of the finished

product at the end of the tragedy of sin, and the bringing in the

perfection of "make an end of sins" and "bring in everlasting

righteousness".

In the following verses 25-26, is covered, the "seven weeks and

threescore and two weeks" - including the restoration of the temple

by the remnant, with Ezra and Nehemiah, and unto "troublous times" right through to the time of Christ, which covers a period of (69x7 weeks of years) = 483 years. This also includes, as in verse 26, the mention that, "Messiah is cut off" by the cross of redemption for all and any of the human race that believe on Him.

Thus the Church is formed, as the body of Christ, under the calling of Him, as His rescue ambassadors to a ruined world. This is for an indeterminate time till the rapture of the Church, out of harms way, of God's tribulation judgment upon a Christ rejecting godless world. Then, when the Church is "caught up", Daniel's clock begins to tick again with the 1week (7 years) of tribulation judgment, completing Daniel's 70 weeks of years.

Volunteer Day Illustration - Community Service & Giving Back ...25. Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the

commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times.

26. And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.

The 2 lots of 7 weeks of years.

Verse 25 lists a break up of the 69 weeks of years. The fit of the seeming numbers puzzle is ...

..... Seven (weeks of years) from the commandment to "Restore" the temple and "rebuild Jerusalem" in Ezra and Nehemiah's time.

Verse 26 covers Sixty two (weeks of years). The time after the rebuild of Jerusalem, reaching forward to the coming of Christ is ...

... 7 + 62 = 69 weeks of years. after which "shall Messiah (Christ) be "cut off ".

Now is left 1 x 7 week of years which is the 7 years of "the great tribulation".

There is a gap!

Verse 26 ends with an Anti-Christ (prince) destroying the city and the sanctuary (which happened AD 70) "and unto the end desolations are determined". That is, Israel (Jews) will be persecuted and oppressed to the very end.

Of course "the gap" is, the final 70th week of years of God's judgment and tribulation upon a rebellious world, which cannot happen until the Church is stolen by "the thief" of love to Glory!

This "gap" is between verse 26 and verse 27, because the Church is not on Earth when the Anti-Christ makes a deal with Israel and sets himself up in the temple presenting himself as God

[See 2 Thessalonians 2:1- 8].

Verse 27 deals with the Anti-Christ making a covenant with Israel, for "1 week" of 7 years; Which is the final 70th week, but midway, after 3 and a half years, that covenant is broken which ushers in the final 3.5 years of the "great Medieval Battle Scene - Knightly Combat at Sunset | Historical ... tribulation" (Revelation 7:14, 11:2, 13:5-8.) and an onslaught against Israel and the battle of Armageddon. At this point, The return of Christ with the Church (Revelation 19) takes place and the enemy nations of Israel are defeated and consumed.

THEN FOLLOWS,

THE MILLENNIAL REIGN OF CHRIST.

* Revelation 20:1-6. *

The Millennial reign of Christ with the Church, now begins on a restored Earth like the garden of Eden, as the Lord has already done in part [Ezekiel 36:33-36]. Such will go into Zoom mode and be further established during the Millennial reign; This is easily understood, in line with the mention of Paul, that the creature and the whole of creation groans, for the deliverance from corruption into the "glorious liberty of the children of God" [Romans 8:21-22].

This glorious liberty is wonderfully manifest,  during the 1000 years restored Edenic Earth ...

... The "wolf shall dwell with the lamb".

... The "leopard shall lie down with the goat".

... The "calf and young lion shall dwell together".

... "Young cattle and bears shall feed together".

... The "lion shall eat straw like an ox".

... "children shall play near and put their hands in a den of snakes".

... And "a little child shall lead them" all [Isaiah 11:6-9].

... If a person dies at 100 years of age they are considered to be but a child [Isaiah 65:20].

Cosmic Wonder: Earthrise Over Starry Sky - Digital Art Wallpaper ... And, most wonderful of all ... "The knowledge of the Glory of the Lord shall cover the whole Earth as the waters cover the sea" [Isaiah 11:9].

midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even

until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the

desolate".

FURTHER THOUGHTS COVERING VERSE 27.

At this point, the outline of the above verse 27, covers the most dramatic events the world has ever known.

Remember "the Church ... His body" (Colossians 1:24) is not on Earth at this point but is transported to glory in "the twinkling of an eye" [1 Corinthians 15:52].

Freezing Cold Cartoon Character - Shivering Businessman Clipart ... THE GREAT TRIBULATION:

After the Church has been delivered by an escape route to glory, immediately the Tribulation (Matthew 24:21, Revelation 6:1) begins.

A covenant between Israel and "the man of sin" (anti-Christ) is established for 1 week (of 7 years) but after 3.5 years that covenant of peace is broken by the anti-Christ and all hell breaks loose, ushering in the last and final stand of Israel against it's vicious anti-Semetic enemies in the battle of "Armageddon" [Revelation 16:16].

God will put hooks in the Jaws of "Gog, the land of Magog" and provoke them along with many nations to come against Israel.

Gog Magog Biblical Reference at Jean Fitzgerald blog

As a matter of fact, most of the world is agitated about Israel with America and the current battle with the radical Islamic regime in Iran.

This current war with Iran, is a hot curry additive spice towards the real blow up "Armageddon' war with Israel once the Church is "caught up...in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord" [1 Thessalonians 4:17].

Once the Church is "taken out of the way" (2 Thessalonians 2:7, Matthew 24:39-42) then the 'agitated' cohort mentioned above of Ezekiel 38, come against Israel in the last three and a half years, of the tribulation and instigate the battle of "Armageddon" [Revelation 16:16].

Forest Fire Illustration - Wildfire Impact and Awareness Visual ... During the "desolation" (vs 27) and up to  this ferocious war, Israel is 'awakened' by the Spirit of God, to the reality that they rejected the greatest loving call from Jehovah, that they had ever received; And that was, that, Jesus is their King and their true Messiah ... "Tell ye the daughter of Sion, Behold, thy King cometh unto thee, meek, and sitting upon an ass, and a colt the foal of an ass" [Matthew 21:5].

Upon this 'awakening', they "shall mourn for Him" who they pierced and shall be in bitterness for Him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn" [Zechariah 12:10].

At this point, "no flesh would be saved" (Mark 13:20) and all civilisation would be destroyed!

dead body cliparts #3194006 | Clipart Library The Lord then appears on the scene with us, the Church, and the above (map illustration) rogue coalition of anti-Semitic nations are destroyed by "the sword (word) of his mouth" [Revelation 19:21].

There has been much consideration of the gruesomeness described by Zechariah, that such applies to no other time, than the instant destruction of the raging horde of nations at the battle of Armageddon and the dominating victory of the Lord; Such a description is the following ... ..."Their flesh shall consume away, while they stand on their feet, their eyes shall consume away in their holes", and "their tongue shall consume away in their mouth" [Zechariah 14:12].

Now, there is to be a massive clean up at the end of the war. The Lord calls for and invites the ravenous birds of the air to a feast of flesh and blood which He calls "my sacrifice which I have sacrificed for you" [Ezekiel 39:17]. This action by the Lord, is a dreaded fearful rebuke to the beast and the false prophet, who detested the Jews' worship of Jehovah and sacrifices, at the beginning of the war. The beast and the false prophet are cast into the lake of fire [Revelation 19:20].

The clean up continues, from the beginning of this Millennial reign of the Lord, taking 7 months to bury the remains of the dead and if there is a sight of a bone in the land, a special task force is notified for burial [Ezekiel 39:11-14]. What a 7 month memorial of the Lordship of Christ, that he is both "Lord of the dead and living" [Romans 14:9].

Free Thomas The Train Printables #600366 | Clipart Library For seven years, shall it take to burn all the wreckage material of the war [Ezekiel 39:9].

Thus, is the beginning of the Glorious, 1000 year reign of Christ "with a rod of iron" [Psalm 2:8-9, Revelation 12:5, 19:15]. The saints (Church) rule and reign with him (Revelation 5:10, 20:6) in the kingdom of God over the whole Earth [Daniel 7:18,22,27].

If during this 1000 year "rod of iron" reign of Christ, any people, province or nation hesitate in allegiance to the Lord, rain will cease (Zechariah 14:17) upon their land.

SECOND SKIP:

FOURTH SKIP:

After the 1000 year reign of Christ and the Church on the Edenically restored Earth, Satan is released from the "bottomless pit" to deceive the nations for the final time. The great war develops at Jerusalem and these nations are consumed with fire from God out of Heaven

[Revelation 20:9].

The Book of Life - Angelic Illustration of Divine Judgment #223787 ... "and whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire" (Revelation 20:11-15)

NOW - PETER'S PROPHETIC WORD HAPPENS:

The melting of the Earth with "fervent heat" (2 Peter 3:10) followed by the creation of the "New Heaven and new Earth".

"And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the

first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea"

[Revelation 21:1].

3:11-12.

"Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?"

The End - Dramatic Vision of Earth's Apocalyptic Destruction ... Notice that Peter mentions the second time (in verse 12) that this old Earth and all that is in it, is going to "melt with fervent heat".

Peter pushes double strength to the reality, that the world with all of it's attractions and our misdemeanors of doting on it, is going to be completely consumed as rubbish, without any residue remaining!

"What manner of person".

Not, what you are doing for the Lord or doing for righteousness sake; But who and what we ARE, is what cannot be shaken down at the test of fire, upon our works. Are they of self or of the Lord? [1 Corinthians 3:12-15].

Climbing the Career Ladder - Professional Growth & Success ...Peter in chapter 1 of this letter gives a 7 step spiritual programme of maturity and adds to "godliness" - "brotherly kindness".

The critical reason for that, is because, even commendable "godliness" can be tailored by self effort; Containing all the praiseworthy disciplines of prayer, Bible adherence, church attendance etc and yet can have a sad lack of "brotherly kindness". Indeed, there can be, decorated within a well presented "godliness" display, many shocking traits of resentment, bitterness and many attitudes opposite to "brotherly kindness" and opposite to the Lord!

Such is Peter's emphasis on what matters - What sort of "person" are we? Are we a "living epistle" of Christ? Is it clearly apparent that we "have been with Jesus and learned of Him" [Acts 4:13].

If a pilot is in the sky with the enemy somewhere in the near vicinity, would he be thinking about what colour to paint the guest room when home after the confict is finished?

He would be very conscious of the reality, that he may never see home again, if he is not diligent!

Peace is, (according to the verse), a product of diligence. A painter that does not show due diligence and care with the strokes of the paint brush, will end up with "spots" all over him and other things, with dissipating peace!

James encourages us to keep ourselves "unspotted from the world" [James 1:27].

Simple Dividers Cliparts #2910379 | Clipart Library

3:17 "Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness".

Friendly Orange Snake Illustration - Free Clipart for Educational ... There are many encouragements in the Word, to "beware".

- "Beware of covetousness" [Luke 12:15]. "The flesh lusteth against the Spirit and the Spirit against the flesh" [Galatians 5:17].

Paul said to the Colossian Church that "covetousness" is idolatry; in other words, what you covet you worship as an idol!

- "Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit" [Colossians 2:8].

Beware of spiritual notions that are not based on the clear Word of God, are "wrested" (twisted)  and much is not found to be centralised and aligned with Christ.

Stedfastness.

clipart working together #5925989 | Clipart Library "Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord" [1 Corinthians 15:58].

Every labour for the Lord and importantly "in the Lord" is not in vain, but all our "labour under the sun is vanity, saith the preacher" [Ecclesiastes 1:2-3]. It is important the phrase ... "in the Lord" because a Christian can be busy labouring in fine Christian duties, but in self strength and with self orientated ambitions.

Peter said ... "Resist the the Devil stedfast in the faith" [1 Peter 5:8-9].

3:18 The Great Throb And

Final Word of Peter's Heart.

Spiritual Treasures: Grace, Virtues, and Divine Works in Christian ... "But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen."

Remember, that in Peter's first letter, he made a major point about GRACE - "If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious."

[1 Peter 2:3]

This "if so be" is a major pivotal unmoveable must, if there is to be any spiritual growth and true benefit from the Word of God.

The Word of God remains only dry hard crust and not "the bread of life" if there is no "tasting of the Lord, that He is gracious".

The Bible in the hands of a believer that has not and does not habitually know "grace" operating in his or her life, is potentially a very

dangerous entity on the stage of Christian ministry.

Business Promotion Megaphone Illustration - Engaging Marketing ...Grace was a 'must' with the impulsive enthusiasm of Peter. He did not lack enthusiasm! Peter gave a clear

demonstration of that, in the garden of agony, when he enthusiastically defended the Lord with the sword! but Peter needed to be

taught - "Not by might, nor by power but by my Spirit saith the Lord" [Zechariah 4:6]. Growth by the Word of God without

experiencing the constant grace of the Lord, is only growth in dry lifeless knowledge.

Admittedly "dry lifeless knowledge" can be made to possess some spectacular  sound and look, but only in the soul realm, without

benefit and impact, upon the real spiritual hunger and need.

free clip art sad #5953312 | Clipart Library The previous verse, Peter gives the reason of his emphatic 'burst' into "but grow in grace". He mentions the sad

experience of  - "fall from your own stedfastness". Peter knew the sad experience of a lack of grace fall, but dear Christian, the Lord

encouraged Peter in the face of warning him of his pending fall of denying him - to, "let not your heart be troubled, ye believe in

God, believe also in me" [John 13:38-14:1] Peter later, after his 'fall', experienced the flood of grace that Jesus promised him.

Peter didn't "grow" by any other influence, other than by the amazing grace of our Lord Jesus Christ.

The last words of the Bible are - "The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen" [Revelation 22:21].

THE VITAL ATTACHMENT OF GRACE.

Peter attaches a vital component to his word of "but grow in grace", and that is .. "and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ".

Grace is multiplied to humanity in many forms. The Bible talks about, "the grace of life", which incidently, is Peter's advice in

respect to a married couple, pooling and sharing their personal resources and experience of "the grace of life" together, and that the

husband needs to take stock of that [1 Peter 3:7].

But the greatest grace and purpose of grace is to know Jesus and the power of his person in

an impactful way, as Paul said ... "That I may know him and the power of his resurrection" [Philippians 3:10].

Hosea said .... "Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the Lord" [Hosea 6:3].

Follow on to know the Lord, dear Christian as your one aim, in the boil over of life, in this incidental temporal world.

Divine Embrace: Jesus Welcoming Believers in Heaven #3046057 ... A believer can only have Heavenly Revelation of Bible truth, in the knowledge of Jesus Christ;

that is, knowing him and being in touch with Him, from day to day, in a personal, real time relationship.

Paul writes on this urgent reality, that Heavenly Revelation can only be truly realised in "the knowledge of Him" ... Not in the mere

intellectual knowledge of what he said! Not in the knowledge of some paramount Bible fact. Not in the knowledge of some doctrinal

creed, but in the relentless pursuit and desire to "know Him", as in the following insightful prayer of the apostle Paul for the Church

at Ephesus... "That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in

the knowledge of him: [Ephesians 1:17].

The entire last book of the Bible is, as it's name implies, a book of 'Revelation', not a book of past historical fact, but hidden

revelation of future historical glorious fact, which only came to John at the feet of Jesus [Revelation 1:1-17].

picture of open bible clipart #5974212 | Clipart Library Have a read of that (Revelation 1:1-17), preferably on your knees, with the Bible open at that exhilarating chapter

and look to Jesus for the grace and revelation of himself, that captured John with such glory, that brought him to his knees.

Oh, that the Lord would so capture us, in these spoiled barren days, to "shew forth the praises of Him who has called us out of

darkness into his marvellous light" [1 Peter 2:9].

An alcoholic christian story.

Step 5.

"Admitted to God, to ourselves, and to another human being the exact nature of our wrongs".
The list of my wrongs was very long for God; Halve that for admitting to another human being the exact nature of my wrongs.
Me admitting to me is another story; As I found myself to be always in the right when in addiction. It can some times turn into something called "victim mentality".

Full blown victim mentality is quite ugly. When you think the world owes you, (and such thinking) is wrong on all levels, especially if you are a christian, where God owes us nothing, but graciously gives anyway.
I know that no human being can forgive me like God can. I know that no human being can be trusted like God can be trusted with all my dark and horrible sins.

No human is prepared to send themselves, or their child to death, for the sake of me either. Not a single person. Yet Jesus went, without question, to a horrible death on the cross for us all. That includes me. I can't even trust myself. I wouldn't sacrifice myself for my boys. Or would I die for them? Well I proved in addiction that my needs were more important than they were. I remember my son walking out of the house crying, "but I want to stay with you Mum", after I had called a friend to come and get them, and drive them to their fathers house.
God sent His son into the world just primarily to die for every sin ever. This is why talking to Him about my sins and knowing he not only forgives me, but will love me regardless, is a great place to be. Herein lies the quirky upside of this whole scenario. God says, "go and sin no more". Now this is where the "will" kicks in. My will is strong. My will has the power to destroy lives. Without remorse. It's a power that can be used for good or evil. I know that nothing evil lives in me when I accept Jesus into my life as Lord and Saviour. I am no longer a slave to sin because Jesus lives within me.

It's a daily ritual going through the 12 steps that keeps me close to God. Everybody on the planet should be doing the 12 steps. I'll show you how basic it is; how Christian it is; how helpful it is to do them.
Step 1: I can't (because my life is unmanageable)

Step 2: He can (God can)

Step 3: Let Him (let God)

Step 4: Look within (make an inventory of my wrong doings and be honest)

Step 5: Admit wrongs (from doing inventory)

Step 6: Ready self for change (contemplation)

Step 7: Seek God's help (ask God to take it away)

Step 8: Become willing

Step 9: Make amends (with God, family, friends, all people affected by us in addiction)

Step 10: Daily Inventory (see step 4. This is maintenance)

Step 11: Pray and Meditate (daily, by moment)

Step 12: Give it away (pass message on)

Free Vectors | Drunk woman #4415680 So in a nutshell, (1) You can't do life alone, (2) God is waiting for you, (3) so let him have everything. (4) Write wrongs down and (5) admit it to God. (6) There will be change in you, (7) if you seek God with all your heart. (8) Be willing and be (9) prepared to see life totally differently. (10) Do this ritually and (11) pray pray pray, read, read, read. (12) give the message that you learnt to others around you who are in addiction.

A lot of people who find success with the 12 steps (it's The most successful program that keeps people sober), go on to study social work, counselling, drug and alcohol related studies. They want to put back into society what was given to them. They see how it works if you work it. Unfortunately a lot of people relapse.

Something less than 5% after their first soberversary stay sober. Its a sad fact. I am nearly 5 years sober and, even though I am sober now and can't see any relapse in sight, even after the deaths of Mum and Dad, there is always a small amount of doubt.
The 12 steps. Simple, successful, life saving, a pathway to eternal life and most importantly will keep you sober.
"If the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed"
[John 8:36]

Sober and Sane.

Step 2 of the AA Big Book says - We became aware that a power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity!
There are so many things I could write about here. The obvious being, who is that power that's greater than us, but as a Christian, for me it's always been, and always will be Jesus.
But I'd rather have fun writing about the insanity of addiction.
"Have one drink Wendy".. They would say, but I am unable to even contemplate what that means. One drink is like a tickle, then that phenomenon of craving starts. It's that insane thought that washes over you after one drink and you know the power has left you. It's a paradox for the Christian, you know you have the power of the Holy Spirit in you, yet that overwhelming sensation takes hold, that has to be satiated. Then, next thing you know, blackout. Hours have been lost. Dignity, lost. Trust from others lost, because you promised you'd just have one.
Clip Art of a Sweating Hot Business Woman Running to the Right on ... Then, the guilt, the remorse, the insanity starts it's cycle. The prayers, begging for forgiveness from God, the promises of, tomorrow I'll quit. It's a vicious cycle that seems like an eternal treadmill.
I cannot, and will not answer anyone who asks me, why can't you just have one? I would love to be that person. The AA big book p.xxviii (the doctors opinion) puts it as succinctly as I could ever dream to write! Men and women drink essentially because they like the effect produced by alcohol.

confused woman #1477822The sensation is so elusive that, while they admit it is injurious, they cannot after a time differentiate the true from the false. To them, their alcoholic life seems the only normal one. They are restless, unless they can again experience the sense of ease and comfort which comes at once by taking a few drinks - drinks which they see others take with impunity. After they have succumbed to the desire again, as so many do, and the phenomenon of craving develops, they pass through the well-known stages of spree, emerging remorseful, with a firm resolution not to drink again. This is repeated over and over, and unless this person can experience an entire psychic change there is very little hope of his recovery.
We alcoholics see others drink with impunity, which means basically they have freedom from the injurious consequences of their actions. Lots of people can drink, but do not have that desire to keep drinking.
The big book goes on to say ...On the other hand - and as strange as this may seem to those who do not understand - once the psychic change has occurred, the very same person who seemed doomed, who had so many problems he despaired of ever solving them, suddenly finds himself easily able to control his desire for alcohol, the only effort necessary being that required to follow a few simple rules.
The only solution is complete abstinence and to rigorously follow the simple rules of the AA Big Book. God is a God of miracles. His plan is the best plan. I am restored to sanity, finally. I was bought to a very dark place. It took many years to reach, and I can honestly say I understand now what God may have had in mind for me. I can talk to drunks, druggies, homeless, the insane. I understand them. They are my Peeps. I had to go through it all to understand fully what it's like for them. I have met but a few who aren't addicts that 'get' the plight of those who are addicts.
Romans 8:28 says, "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose".
Next Step 3 of the AA Big Book.

Sober In COVID.

COVID-19: The Rise in Domestic Violence - Worksheets Library How many people have heard that we'd either be ...  A chunk, A monk, A hunk OR A drunk? When we came out of COVID?
When I heard that sales of alcohol had gone through the roof, it didn't surprise me and that a lot of people, including Christians, would come out as drunks.
Addicts are not good in isolation. When we isolate, we enter our heads and become busy in our thoughts. No one foresaw what was about to happen at the beginning of the year, but now, in October, 2020, our heads are reeling still.
What just happened.
Has anyone put on a lot of weight OR became an exercise guru? Did anyone have so much spare time that they read their bible and discovered things about God that they hadn't seen before and became so In tune with the Holy Spirit that their prayer life has changed for the greater good? OR did you drink that little bit more and say to yourself every day, "It's ok because when COVID is over, I'll quit".??
Can I just say, that I have put on weight, my reading and prayer life is just as lacking as It was before COVID, I didn't exercise anymore than I did before COVID AND best of all I can proudly say I am sober still. So there must be more categories apart from Chunk, Monk, Hunk, Drunk.

I must also say, the CLASSIC line of an addict is "I know I can quit". No you can't. You cannot quit on your own. Try it now. Quit. Just like that. No one yet has been able to, that is if they're an addict. If you're drinking everyday and possibly more than you used to before COVID and being truthful to yourself, is the answer to quitting "YES"?
Our addictive mind lies to us. I often said to me, more often than I would like to confess, that  "I can stop whenever I like. I just choose not to stop" (drinking). The problem was (is) I love(d) alcohol. I cannot JUST have one. If I pick up a drink it's to oblivion. I say to the 'one drink' drinker, "how can you have only one"?
Recently I had a lovely lunch with my son at the old Customs House Restaurant and watched 2 couples also having a relaxed meal out. The lady of the first couple sat on one glass of wine and to my amazement left a half empty glass (or was it half full). She seemed more preoccupied with the glass of water. My addicts mind went to places that I care not repeat here, needless to say I was truely in awe of someone having half a glass of wine. I cannot do that. If, for arguments sake the alcohol ran out (when I was in addiction) I would have a trusty bottle in my bag to drink (if need be in the toilet block). The alcohol never, ever ran out and, on top of that, I drank the bottle in my bag as well. This is drinking alcoholically.

So when someone now says, "just have one", I know they are not an addict. They can have a few sips, half a glass. I admire them for NOT being an addict. Now for the second couple. Two mates having after lunch drinks, one bloke sat on one beer, the other bloke had a beer and a cocktail lined up at the same time. The first bloke downed only half his beer and left. The second left after every drop of both drinks was finished. I related to him more. So back to the basics of this whole story and the challenge starts with step one, and this is back to basics of the AA Big Book, we admitted we were powerless over our addiction, our lives had become 'unmanageable'.

This step for the Christian, is the hardest of all. This power is the Lord Jesus Christ himself. He knew no sin and had no need for drinking alcoholically (because he was so close to His Father that he didn't need to be drunk). So too can we be so close to God that our minds are filled with wonder and awe and love of Him.

Don't you want to be so close that the last thing you think of when you go to bed is the Father, the Son and the infilling of the Holy Spirit, AND when you wake up you say "Good morning Lord". Yes I do too. I'm a step closer than I was yesterday to being closer to God and will only fully reach this perfect state when I'm in the presence of my loving saviour.
I hope to DEBUNK all those people who think we will all come out of COVID as only just drunks, monks, hunks, or chunks. "I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good but I cannot carry it out". [Romans 7:18]

Overcomers Outreach.

Free outreach clipart, Download Free outreach clipart png images ... Being involved with Overcomers Outreach has given me a great insight into what it's like to facilitate a group within a church context. OO started 17 years ago in Sydney with Penny Wilkinson. It's a 12 step group but with Jesus as our higher power. No apologies there. OO also caters for every addiction not just alcohol and drugs. Eating, gambling, sex, work, relationship etc. For with 90% of addictive behaviours, lies the root cause of trauma in childhood. So we basically are all wired with this insatiable desire to do something over the top and at risk of hurting ourselves and others.

Outreach groups... One in Broadmeadow and the other in East Maitland. Hoping soon to start Raymond terrace and Cardiff. Penny said "be careful of burnout", but I have to take the risk. The voice of addiction in church is a silent monster. It destroys lives, families, friendships, marriages and most importantly our walk with God.
What is our lord when we are addicts? It's not God. I remember every morning praying the sorry prayer to God but by 3 (and subsequently earlier as my addiction grew) I was plotting and planning my next bender. I'd be completely drunk by 5. And it didn't stop there. I would go out (yes drive) for more alcohol.
I did go DUI twice and loose my license for twelve months. I then had to put a breathalyser in my car to start it up. It's humiliating.

Back to OO and facilitating church groups. It's basically difficult. If you don't have people beside you and praying and helping it's a difficult job I would imagine. But I have a faithful group of woman praying every Monday morning for the sick and suffering drug addicts and alcoholics at our local rehab centre. I have a lady in the church that wouldn't even dream of missing an OO meeting. She's not an addict but she loves seeing addicts recover. Plus I have pastors that see a real need in the community.
If there's a need and God has a plan for you, then run with it. You will be blessed out of your little cotton socks. God is just waiting for us to do His will. You are on another plane working with him not against Him. Because as a Christian AND an alcoholic I've been going against Him for years.
Surrendering to the reality of alcoholism and attending AA every week and being in fellowship with other Christians, life is good.
Still Hard. But GOOD!

Excerpt From Part 2.
But I hear you say, "but I'm powerless over this addiction"! Yes, we are powerless, but we also have someone we can go to, for everything and lay it at His feet. Jesus doesn't mind if we take a few steps forward then backwards, as long as we are moving forward. To Him.
It's like Jesus' story of the the prodigal Son. We were that son. We took it all, and in our pride, thought we could do it on our own.
I hate to tell you folks but we can't. We cannot do anything on our own. I know. I've tried. Fell flat every time. It's taken 50 years (and hopefully you get this, long before I did) but we can't survive without Jesus as the centre. I can only say that the longer I left it to fully grasp this idea, the more I now want to dedicate every waking moment to helping people realise that Jesus loves you. Yes you're an addict, but God's love is bigger than your addiction. Hand it over to Him.

No Room For Jesus. Print E-mail
Gospel - The World
Written by Grant Hayman

There Was No Room For Jesus at his first coming.

Room For Jesus at his Soon Second Coming?

"And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn". [Luke 2:27]

When you make "room" for Jesus this Christmas you will be Blessed!

ggggg This 'Hell hole' life in full scale exhibition currently on planet Earth has arrived at a point that could be described as the following inspired Scripture verse declares ...

..... "The coming of the Lord draweth nigh"! [James 5:8].

The Triumphant Rejoicing for Every Christian is to be...

..... "Let the High Praises of God be in their mouth and a Twoedged Sword in their hand" [Palm 149:6].

"For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord" [1 Thessalonians 4:16-17].

This reality of the soon coming of Jesus as "King of Kings and Lord of Lords" affords great consolation and celebration for every Christian at this Christmas 2023!

Just as with the intervention of the Lord's action in the time of Noah's flood when the Earth's wickedness had reached it's 'use by date' for judgment, the Lord caught away Noah and his family from the then corrupted world to a whole new world of blessing and goodness; So now, in these "last days" of the first coming of Christ, who came, to "put away sin by the sacrifice of himself" [Hebrews 9:26]......

.... This final "use by date" has almost arrived, in the which the Second Coming of the Lord will initiate the end of this second remade world, which started well by Grace with Noah but has degenerated into a Bible predicted saturation of villany, corruption and violence [Genesis 6:11].

The forthcoming Second appearance of Christ on Earth will be, not as Saviour but as Judge in the which every soul will be allocated their final blessed or condemned estate for all Eternity.

The "blessed' in Jesus with "the new Heaven and new Earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness" cannot be described with words.

"But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him" [1 Corinthians 2:9].

The surprise wonder of the foregoing promise is specific and applies to those "that Love Him".

This Christmas and beyond, make your greatest pursuit to be ..... "To know the Love of Christ which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God" [Ephesians 3:19].

Paul met the greatest love he had ever known when the Lord burst in on his angry scene travelling a dusty road over 2000 years ago!

And he wrote to the love depleted Corinthian Church.....

.... "If you have not Love you are Nothing"! [1 Corinthians 13:2-3]

And then gives the instruction upon which the whole of heaven (since the cross) operates ...

... "Follow after Love" [1 Corinthians 14:1].

Doe Head Silhouette #1445389 | Clipart LibraryThe greatest Pursuit you can ever make is ...

...... to Know ...

..... "The love Of Christ Which passes (all the emptiness of mere) Knowledge".

It behoves every Christian in this world in which it is predicted that ... "the love of many shall wax cold", to ... "Follow after Love" which is the greatest comfort of all [Philippians 2:1].

This Christmas and on, remember to "Let the High praises of God be in your mouth and a twoedged sword in your hand".

The two of "high praises" and "twoedged sword" go together. One cannot be seperated from the other.

Love and "high praises" without alignment with the Bible is 'slush'.

The "twoedged sword" is the word of God [Hebrews 4:12].

John viewing in his vision, the glory of Christ said .... "And out of his mouth went a sharp twoedged sword" [Revelation 1:16].

Christ never spoke an idle word and yet his words cut through all falseness and charade, and all miraculously constrained by a Great love.

Free Healing Love Cliparts, Download Free Healing Love Cliparts ...Solomon said ... "Many waters cannot quench love" [Song of Solomon 8:7].

The Lord encourage you this Christmas that though there have been a flood of regrets, troubles and failures in your life, such "many waters" that have overflowed you with much sorrow cannot quench the Lord's great and unfailing love for you.

With purpose of heart bring all to Him as "the wise" men did and "recover All" as David did in onward great Blessing [1 Samuel 30:18-19].

God BLESS and happy Christmas.

.......................

.....................................

Jesus said to the self righteous scribes and pharisees, to - "Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life." [John 5:39-40]
1). The Scriptures (Old Testament) testified of Christ. Jesus also illustrated the same, in his conversation with the two disciples on the Emmaus road. He "expounded unto them in all the Scriptures, the things concerning himself" [Luke 24:27].
2). The Holy Spirit's ministry is to reveal and witness to the believer, the Glory of Christ. To take what is of Christ, revealing him, and his greatness to the longing soul [Psalm 107:9].
"Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth .... He shall glorify me: (Christ) for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you" [John 16:13-14].
The reality is, a true believer's orientation, is Christ, in line with the orientation of the Spirit. Even as Paul's stated passion, was to know Jesus more, and "the power of  his resurrection" [Philippians 3:7-10].
Paul said ...
... "For to me to Live is Christ, and to die is Gain" [Philippians 1:21].
Dear Jehovah witness friend, is the apostle Paul's stated passion yours? Paul's one focus in life was the Lord Jesus; as he said with the following words found in his letter to the Church at Philippi ....

Appendage to the following - 29/09/2023.

Changed from the AMP edition of the Amplified Bible to the AMPC Classic Edition of the Amplified Bible.

Philippians 3:7-11. (Amplified Bible).

Paul and the Philippian Jailor.

7 But whatever former things I had that might have been gains to me, I have come to consider as [[a]one combined] loss for Christ’s sake.

8 Yes, furthermore, I count everything as loss compared to the possession of the priceless privilege (the overwhelming preciousness, the surpassing worth, and supreme advantage) of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord and of progressively becoming more deeply and intimately acquainted with Him [of perceiving and recognizing and understanding Him more fully and clearly]. For His sake I have lost everything and consider it all to be mere rubbish (refuse, dregs), in order that I may win (gain) Christ (the Anointed One),

9 And that I may [actually] be found and known as in Him, not having any [self-achieved] righteousness that can be called my own, based on my obedience to the Law’s demands (ritualistic uprightness and supposed right standing with God thus acquired), but possessing that [genuine righteousness] which comes through faith in Christ (the Anointed One), the [truly] right standing with God, which comes from God by [saving] faith.

10 [For my determined purpose is] that I may know Him [that I may progressively become more deeply and intimately acquainted with Him, perceiving and recognizing and understanding the wonders of His Person more strongly and more clearly], and that I may in that same way come to know the power outflowing from His resurrection [[b]which it exerts over believers], and that I may so share His sufferings as to be continually transformed [in spirit into His likeness even] to His death, [in the hope]

11 That if possible I may attain to the [[c]spiritual and moral] resurrection [that lifts me] out from among the dead [even while in the body].

3). God (Jehovah) witnessed about his son, right at the beginning of creation and the fall of Adam's race. God's remedy, for Adam's Satan bias and sin destruction, was, that Jesus will destroy Satan's headship over man! [Genesis 3:15].
4). "But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me (Jesus) both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth" [Acts 1:8]. This great commission of Jesus reveals that, The Jehovah Witnesses organisation is sadly, on a misguided mission of harm and danger! True servants of God are witnesses for Jesus Christ, "for there is none other name (the name of Jesus Christ) under Heaven, given among men whereby we must be saved" [Acts 4:12]. Jesus declared that witnesses of Jesus will have the "power of the Holy Ghost" [Acts 1:8]. Peter talks about those who preach the Gospel (of Christ) with the Holy Ghost sent down from Heaven! [1 Peter 1:12]. The Spirit of God has not got any other message! Sinners must come to Jesus because he said "I am the way ... no man comes to the Father, but by me" [John 14:6].
"If any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his" [Romans8:9].

Being a Christian and being saved and born again, is not some cold calculated mental assent that Jesus is God's sacrificial lamb! It is a relationship, not a religious belief system. Have you got a personal relationship with Jesus? Or do you simply have a relationship with doctrinal arguments, and a religious movement that controls your whole concept of "Kingdom" gains, for which you must work, labour, and be accountable, to be accepted?
Working for the "Watchtower" will not save you. Working under a pro Jehovah argument system, won't save you and give you a place in some "paradise" new world.
Can you say with Paul .... "For to me to live is Christ and to die is gain"? [Philippians 1:21].
Stop reading the "Watchtower" and READ THE BIBLE! Don't read the Bible according to the "Watchtower", but according to dependance upon the Lord Jesus Christ, to make himself known to you through his Word, and experience the Joy! [Jeremiah 15:16].

Being a Christian, is a life lived totally for Christ, as testified by Paul himself [Philippians 1:21].
What is the TRUE witness of Jehovah?....
1John 5:9 "If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God which he hath testified of his Son". What is Jehovah God Witnessing?...
Jehovah God is witnessing about His Son! The witness is ... "He that has the Son has Life, and he that has not the Son of God, has Not Life" [1 John 5:9-12].
What kingdom are you In, and what Kingdom are you representing? The Bible says ... (Jehovah) God "has translated us (every truly born again Christian) into the Kingdom of his dear Son" [Colossians 1:13]. John the Baptist in preaching, "Prepare ye the way of the Lord", and in reference to Jesus, said ... "Repent for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand" [Matthew 3:2]. Jesus is the "KING of KINGS and LORD of LORDS" [Revelation 19:16].
Can you say ... "Jesus is my Lord and my God"? Thomas did! "No man can say Jesus is Lord, but by the Holy Ghost" [1 Corinthians 12:3]. If you can say ... Jesus is "my Lord and my God" like Thomas, (John 20:28) then you have the Holy Spirit. If you cannot say Jesus is "my Lord" ... i.e. "Jesus is supreme Lord (Kurios Gk.) over my life", then, you have not got the Spirit of Jehovah God and Christ(which is the same "Holy Spirit" Spirit), and are not saved and "born again": Neither numbered among those who are called the "children of God" [Ref. John 1:11-13, Galatians 3:26].

"And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father" [Galatians 4:6].

Notice it is "your heart" (when a believer is "born again") that is "crying" - "Abba (dear) Father.

"If any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of His" [Romans 8:9]. Salvation is a Gift of God's Mercy and Grace.

Salvation; the new birth and regeneration by the Spirit of God, is BY GRACE and NOT BY WORKS!

" Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;" [Titus 3:5-6]
From the above Text notice 1). "Saved" past and present tense. 2). Saved By Mercy! 3). New Birth and Regeneration by the Spirit of God. 4). This New Birth and Regeneration is through Jesus Christ our Saviour. 5). This Salvation of New Birth (Regeneration) is Abundant!
The whole Jehovah Witnesses religious system is based on the obsolete foundation of the Old Testament. Paul says the Old Testament is "faulty", "done away", a "ministration of death" and "condemnation" [Romans 7:10-13; Hebrews 8:6-8; 2 Corinthians 3:7,9,11]. Do you feel condemnation after all your efforts?
* Old Testament - LAW. New Testament - GRACE. *
23-1-2024.
The phrase "Old Testament Failure" is a sweeping statement, that is important to not misunderstand.
Upon recently reading the content of this article, it was felt that there could be perceived a totally wrong understanding of the statement.
It should become clear by the reading of the verses of scripture quoted, but alas, how easily our human understanding can veer towards faultiness. The following is to clarify.
1). Jesus quoted the Old Testament profusely as absolute authority. Jesus even faced the Devil with the authority of the old Testament Scriptures.
2). "All Scripture is given by the inspiration of God and is profitable" for every aspect of spiritual groweth and blessing [2 Timothy 3:16].
3). The "Old Testament Failure" statement is only in the sence (as Paul said), of being "faulty" in the purpose of making "the comers thereunto perfect" [Hebrews 10:1].
4). The Word of God is absolutely clear and resounds out the truth that ALL endeavours of keeping the Law to be accepted before God fails.
5). Sinners can only be acceptable and have perfect righteousness accredited to them in Christ. "Christ is the end of the Law for righteousness to everyone that believes" (in and upon Him) [Romans 10:4]. In other words the law fails to make us righteous before God. Christ alone is 'made' perfect righteousness unto every sinner that comes to him [ 1 Corinthians 1:30].
6). Praise the LORD for the Old testament because it is Full Of Christ and points to Him to be Rightous before God. The Old Testament (Covenant) fails to accomplish that for us no matter how diligently we may endeavour to perfectly 'keep' the Law. The law 'fails' to make us righteous because we fail to 100% 'keep' the performing of it.
7). The goal of the above brief explanation is to bring us to the  the following Blessed reality and Joy of .... "Rejoice in Christ Jesus and have no confidence in the flesh" [Philippians 3:3].
Are you under the rules of the Watchtower to earn your acceptance by Jehovah? The Bible says, Jehovah accepts us "in the beloved" (in Christ) [Ephesians 1:6]. Believe on Jesus to be completely and Freely accepted (John 8:36), and the changes in your life will be His Blessed work and not yours, or your responsibility!
"Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage" [Galatians 5:1] Paul warned the Galatian Church about the doctrines and commandments of men - "touch not, taste not" [Colossians 2:20-22] i.e. you must obey the watchtower rules to "earn" a place in "the kingdom". The Word of God says - such rules and works have a show of  "humility and wisdom" but it is all "will worship" and self works of "the flesh", and rejected [Colossians 2:23]. A Christian is   "risen with Christ", and the Bible says - "Seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God" [Colossians 3:1].
Get free from the unrestful slavery works of the Watchtower religious organisation. Choose God's provision, of believing on "Christ alone" for YOUR fully acceptable and perfect righteousness, before your Heavenly Father [1 Corinthians 1:30] and rejoice in the Blessing of Ephesians 1:3. The Blessing with no sorrow added! [Proverbs 10:22].

How sad is this - Another failed, and wearing, Christ denying argument of the Watchtower movement. There are 3 mentions of the "Godhead" in Scripture. The Watchtower movement in this matter makes the classical mistake, along with every other pseudo Christian sect, of not heeding the very important injunction of Scripture - That, "no Scripture is of private interpretation" [2 Peter 1:20]. All of Scripture is required for true doctrine!
The word "Godhead" means - "The essential and supreme being of God". Three times in the Word, Acts 17:29, Romans 1:20 and Colossians 2:9 -10. The word "Godhead" describes an incorporate reality of the "essential and supreme" deity and being of God.
[God-The Son-The Spirit]. Headship of God, Christ.
The man and the woman in marriage  - Refer 1 Corinthians 11:3 and 1 Corinthians 15:27-28.
The watchtower error is; they consider the meaning of the word "subject" in 1 Corinthians 15:28 to be "subordinate" and belonging to a lower rank. 'To subordinate' (which Jesus did on earth in the body - refer Philippians 2:6-8), is very different than to 'be subordinate'. Carefully consider Strongs Greek concordance No. G5293. One is "rank", the other is that of a position taken, as of 'order'. The wife is to be "subject" to the husband (Ephesians 5:24) i.e. A standing and position of God's order for human marriage, but essentially and spiritually she is not of lower rank! The same with Jesus as revealed in the truth of the much maligned scripture of 1 Corinthians 15:27-28.
Clear Example.
There is much that is expounded in the Word of God on this very important matter, but just to mention the simple illustration of the difference of a woman's position in the practical fellowship of the Church and her spiritual position in Christ.
Difference and limited church function ..... 1 Timothy 2:11-12.
No difference and absolute spiritual equality ( "neither male nor female") ..... Galatians 3:27-28.
There are similar injunctions for marriage and home cohesion, but never is there any suggestion in the Bible of any spiritual level of inequality between men and women.
The following third mention of the Godhead, is the mine sweeper that blows the undermining of the equal deity (Philippians 2:6) of Christ, out of the waters of doubt!
"For in him (Jesus) dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily" [Colossians 2:9].
Read further the Greatness of Christ in Colossians 1:13-19 and find therein, "that in all things, he might have the preeminence"!
Get on your Knees and like Thomas confess to Jesus the words ... "My Lord and My God" and .....

Appendage of Encouragement 27-08-22.

Just this morning in the brilliant sunshine of a glorious new day. My wife and I were sharing a Bible reading together, and we were both greatly encouraged, with the following verse of Scripture ...

"Fret not thyself because of evil doers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity.

For they shall soon be cut down like the grass and wither as the green herb" [Psalm 37:1-2].

The encouragement continues in the Psalm with ......

... "Delight yourself in the Lord, and he shall give you the desires of your heart .... Trust in the Lord and do good .....Rest in the Lord ....

.....Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any wise to do evil. For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the LORD, they shall inherit the earth" [Verses 3-9].

Dear reader.

Though we need to be aware of the Good and Evil forces in the World. We can be sure that, "The Heavens do Rule" [Daniel 4:26] and find "Rest" in Jesus, the one who said ... "Come unto me and I will give you rest ..." [Matthew 11:28-30].

Continue on to the GREAT BLESSING of ...

..."What Is A Christian"?

James 2:19 "Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble". The devils believe, but they are not saved!! The Bible says ... "Hell is prepared for the devil and his angels" [Matthew 25:41] The devils also knew who Jesus was! [Luke 4:34].
The Philippian jailer, was holding Paul and Silas in prison. Seeing God's powerful answer of an earthquake, to their faith and singing, he cried out to Paul and Silas ..... "What must I do to be saved?" and Paul answered, "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved"

[Acts 16:30-31].

"Saving Faith" is what is missing with people who say they are Christians, and there is no evidence of a changed life to support their claim! Paul gave a warning  to Jews who claimed to have become Christians that, ..  "We are not of them who draw back unto perdition, but of them that Believe to the Saving of the soul" [Hebrews 10:39]. Believing in Jesus to "the saving of the soul" is "Saving faith". In other words, it is faith that works salvation, producing a completely changed life, from how they lived before. The Bible says, nothing avails before heaven, but a "new creature" [Galatians 6:15; 2 Corinthians 5:17].

Isaiah 59:2 "But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear" [Isaiah 59:2]. Jesus spoke about a rich man in hell, that there was "a great gulf" between him and Lazarus in Heaven. [Luke 16:26].

Though sin has separated us from God, yet, He so loved the World that he gave his only begotten Son, to suffer our judgment and penalty for sin, which is death [John 3:16].
"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" [Romans 6:23]. "Death has passed upon all men, for that, all have sinned" [Romans 5:12]. The problem of sin is a big one. "If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us" [1 John 1:8]. The Bible says, we all have a sinful nature,  a "deceitful heart which is desperately wicked" [Jeremiah 17:9].

Even though Nicodemus was a religious leader, loved God, and sought to be a good person, Jesus said to him ... "Marvel not that I said unto you, you must be born again" [John 3:7].

This new birth is a "must", because - Our first birth dies because of a black corrupt and deceitful nature, and because of these bodies of sin [Romans 6:6].

We need a regenerated, (new birth) spirit [Titus 3:5-6].

Then we have a new heart and real love for God; mothers and fathers, husbands and wives, family, friends, and neighbours!

Being "born again" of the Spirit of God by faith in Christ, is the beginning of the Christian life.  "For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus" [Galatians 3:26].

We begin as a baby, but are not meant to remain a baby.

Our Heavenly Father has a great inheritance for all his children as we grow up into Christ in all things [Ephesians 4:13]. How do we grow out of being a spiritual "baby"?

Peter said .. "Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings, as new born babes desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby: If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious" [1 Peter 2:1-3]. Growth in the Lord is stunted by the five things, Peter mentions; which are deadly poisons that only growing in the Lord's grace and his Word can overcome! The mean 5 are ..  * "All malice" * "All guile" and * "hypocrisies" * "And envies and * All evil speakings".
If these traits of the old life and sinful nature, are not, as Peter says .."laid aside", then, true growth from the Word of God will be hindered. These nasties cannot co-exist in fellowship with Christ! The last 2 are the remedy .....

* Desiring "the sincere milk of the Word", means, not considering any notions of deceit  about the Word, but appreciating it's purity and great perfection and value to you. * Tasting that the Lord is gracious.

There has never been and never will be anyone that can compare with the graciousness of our Lord Jesus Christ, our loving Saviour!
To benefit from the precious Word, we need to know in our hearts through humbleness, honest confession, and openness, his great grace and lovingkindness personally. It is only then that His Word will be LIFE to us. A Christian that spends no time in the Word of God will remain a spiritual baby, doting on the carnal remnants of worldly life, and losing out on apprehending that, for which he or she has been apprehended by the Lord Jesus Christ [Philippians 3:12]. Jesus is the Captain of our salvation [Hebrews 2:10].

We are "soldiers" in this army. If we become "chocolate" soldiers: we will be like many, that have been foiled and found slain on the battle field! Every CHRISTian is in a fierce fight, but the chocolate christIAN is found eating fairy floss at the town fair. The encouragement is to "endure hardness as a good soldier of our Lord Jesus Christ" [2 timothy 2:3]. This hardness that we need to "endure" is not only the battle in the "outfield" but also the inward battle! The Lord said to Israel - "O Israel, thou hast destroyed thyself; but in me is thine help" [Hosea 13:9]. How great are the battles within the heart of every believer!

And many are the Lord's chastenings upon spiritual loss, as David had to "endure". Take courage dear saint that the Lord did say to all Israel in the despair of self destruction ... "In me is thine help". Praise the Lord for such grace as was showed to king David and is available to every keen soldier of the Cross [1 Samuel 30:6-8]. Paul spoke about "conflicts without and fears within" [2 Corinthians 7:5].

Even if the Lord has been on the outside of your life - Invite Him in! and let Him know everything, because He is "gracious"! [Exodus 22:27]. "A bruised reed shall he not break, and smoking flax shall he not quench, till he send forth judgment unto victory" Matthew 12:20].
David said - "The LORD will perfect that which concerneth me ..." [Psalm 138:8].

"Then shall we know if we follow on to Know the Lord" [Hosea 6:3].

The Lord wonderfully BLESS. He does The BEST!
